After graduating in 1996 from the Institute of Archaeology,
University College London Steve
began working at the prestigious wetland world
heritage site of Flag Fen in
Peterborough,
C
ambridgeshire. It was
during his time at Flag Fen that he became interested in
British prehistory,
particulary that of the Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire fens. Between 1998
and
2000 he worked for several large field units throughout London and was
fortunate to have worked for the Museum of London archaeological Service on the large Roman and medieval
cemetery
site of
Spitalfields in the City of London. In mid 2000 he returned to work in
Cambridgeshire, this time for the Cambridge
Archaeological Unit. During his time at Cambridge he had
the
opportunity to work on some of the large scale prehistoric sites within
the Flag Fen basin and was also given the responsibility
to direct
evaluations and
excavations, many of which were located throughout the well known
Prehistoric and Romano-British
rich landscape of the Fengate region of Peterborough.
After spending many years working
for a
variety of small independent archaeological contractors throughout the
Lincolnshire region Steve decided to set up Midland
Archæological Services, a
commercial field unit providing a full and cost effective sevice
throughout the Midlands, East-Anglia and the South-East.
